The San Diego Humane Society is hoping to find homes for 135 guinea pigs in their care, more than a third of which were rescued this month after their owner passed away.
On Dec. 18th, the Humane Society took in 51 guinea pigs from an RV home in Ocean Beach after their owner died. The animals were given care and evaluations and found to be in good health.
“These small, furry friends are adoptable as singles or in bonded pairs, and have been spayed or neutered to prevent unintentional litters,” said a release from the organization. “Guinea pigs make incredible companions, and the organization hopes these deserving animals will find their way into warm hearts and homes this holiday season.”
The San Diego Humane Society’s walk-in hours for adoptions are Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on New Year’s Eve when they will close at 2 p.m. and New Year’s Day when they will be closed all day.
All adoptable animals can be found here.
