DENVER (KDVR) — Aurora police reported that a man died after jumping on an SUV on the evening of Dec. 20.
According to the Aurora Police Department's Traffic Unit, the man was walking in the middle of Jasper Street, near East 33rd Place, at about 6:30 p.m. on Friday when an SUV slowly approached him.
"The male charged at the SUV, jumped onto the hood of the vehicle and climbed onto the roof while the vehicle was in motion," the police agency reported.
The driver in the car sped up to try and dislodge the man from the vehicle, according to police. The man fell off the vehicle, suffered serious bodily injury and died at the scene. The driver of the SUV tried to help the man and was cooperative with investigators.
The man's identity is in the care of the Adams County Coroner's Office. The Aurora Police Department said this was the 49th fatal crash in Aurora of 2024.
