Egypt’s trade deficit decreases by 5.1% in June: CAPMAS
The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced that the value of the trade deficit amounted to US$ 2.87 billion during June, compared to $3.02 billion in the same month last year – a decrease of 5.1 percent. The agency explained in the monthly bulletin of foreign trade data in June that the value of exports decreased by 1.6 percent, reaching $3.13 billion this June compared to $3.18 billion for June 2023. The agency attributed this to the decrease in the value of exports of some commodities, the most important of which being: fertilizers by 42.9 percent, crude oil by 64.6 percent, iron bars, rods, angles and wires by 23.7 percent, fresh onions by 25.4 percent.
