Stampeders vs. Lions 25- 24

Calgary Stampeders faced off against the BC Lions in a thrilling match that ended with a score of 25-24. The game was filled with intense moments and incredible plays that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle blew.

Throughout the game, both teams displayed impressive skill and determination as they battled it out on the field. The Stampeders showed great teamwork and coordination, working together to move the ball down the field and put points on the board. Meanwhile, the Lions put up a strong defense, making it difficult for their opponents to score.

Calgary’s defence came into the night giving up a league-worst 405.6 yards per game. Conversely, B.C.’s offence was averaging a league-high 428.7 yards per game. Sure enough, the Lions could only muster 274 yards Sunday.

The teams were averaging the fewest penalties in the league coming in. On Sunday, the Stampeders were flagged 12 times for 180 yards and the Lions pushed back 70 yards on infractions.

The Stampeders started off the third quarter on a high note as their first drive resulted in a 43-yard field goal from Rene Paredes, who is perfect on the season.

But just as the Stampeders felt they had momentum back on their side, the Lions responded with a five-minute drive that saw a 16-yard reception from Berryhill on second down keep the drive alive, before McInnis grabbed the nine-yard touchdown reception to tie the game once again.

To start the fourth quarter the Stampeders earned a safety, getting a slight 19-17 lead, but the Lions responded on the next drive as Whyte’s 23-yard kick put them back on top by a single point.

Nothing came easy for the Stamps, and the win wasn’t secure until the final second.

On their last drive, the Stamps needed to eat the clock and were desperate to avoid putting the ball back in Lions QB Vernon Adams Jr.’s hands. And they did it, but not without a scary moment when Jalen Philpot fumbled the ball, only to recover it a few agonizing seconds later.

But ultimately, the Stamps did what was needed

In a nail-biting finish, it was ultimately a last-minute field goal by the Stampeders that secured their victory over the Lions. The crowd erupted in cheers as they celebrated their team's hard-fought win. Despite coming up short, the Lions showed great sportsmanship in defeat and congratulated their opponents on a well-deserved victory.

The matchup between the Stampeders and Lions was a true display of athleticism and dedication from both teams. It was a game that will be remembered for years to come as one of those unforgettable moments in sports history.
