UPD: Ukiah man arrested for allegedly starting fire near airport
A Ukiah man was arrested on suspicion of arson after reportedly starting a fire in a field near the airport, the Ukiah Police Department reported. According to the UPD, officers responded to the 1300 block of Airport Road around 12:15 p.m. June 13 when it was reported that a grass fire had just been started in a field at 1320 Airport Road, which is along the railroad tracks and near the city of Ukiah’s Corp Yard. The fire was reported by a Ukiah Valley Fire Authority Battalion Chief whom the UPD describe as being “in the area and seeing the fire immediately after it started, then responding to put it out.
