Former Egyptian People’s Assembly Speaker Ahmed Fathi Sorour died on Friday evening at the age of 91, his son Tariq Fathi Sorour announced on his Facebook page. Sorour served as the former Speaker of the Egyptian People’s Assembly since 1991, working for 21 consecutive years until 2011. He was born on July 9, 1932 in Qena Governorate, Egypt. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and son, Tariq.
