The tech billionaire has reportedly contributed around $366 million to GOP groups during the current election cycle
Tech billionaire Elon Musk has poured more than $276 million into Republican political groups since early July, becoming the largest known donor ahead of next month’s crucial US midterm elections, the New York Times reported on Monday.
The contributions come just weeks before the November 3 vote, which will determine whether Republicans retain control of both chambers of Congress.
According to the NYT, Musk donated $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, which backs Republican Senate candidates, and $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund, which supports House Republicans. The newspaper cited figures provided by Musk’s representatives ahead of a federal disclosure deadline on Thursday.
Another $76 million went to Musk’s America PAC, while $22 million was distributed among other Republican groups, Reuters reported. These organizations, known as super PACs, can raise and spend unlimited sums to support candidates but are prohibited from coordinating directly with their campaigns.

Musk previously spent more than $290 million backing Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and other Republican candidates during the 2024 election cycle. The two publicly feuded in 2025 over Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill but have since appeared to reconcile, attending several events together.
