In a stunning display of dominance, the Dallas Cowboys emerged victorious in Week 18 of the NFL season, defeating the Washington Commanders with a resounding scoreline of 38-10. This clash between two fierce rivals showcased the Cowboys' unwavering determination and exceptional skill on both sides of the ball.
From the opening kickoff, it was evident that the Cowboys were firing on all cylinders. Led by their star quarterback, Dak Prescott, they swiftly established an offensive rhythm that left their opponents scrambling to keep up. Prescott's pinpoint accuracy and strategic decision-making allowed him to connect with his receivers effortlessly, resulting in multiple touchdowns throughout the game.
As the game kicked off, both teams displayed their determination to secure a victory. The Cowboys' offense, led by their star quarterback Dak Prescott, showcased their explosive playmaking abilities. Prescott's precision passing and ability to extend plays with his legs kept the Commanders' defense on its toes throughout the game.
The mood, the performance and the atmosphere were decidedly improved for Prescott, his club and their supporters compared to a year ago. Unlike in Week 18 last time, when they finished the regular season with a loss at Washington, Prescott, Lamb and the Cowboys did what they set out to do Sunday against the rival Commanders by charging into the postseason with a 38-10 victory.
“Look at last year — the way we came into this place and didn't finish the season the way we wanted to — to where we are now," said Prescott, who threw two of his four TDs passes to Lamb and finished 31 for 36 for 279 yards. "The growth. The coaching staff. The players. The accountability. The communication. The transparency. And both sides of the ball holding their own.”
After the Dallas defense stopped the Commanders on fourth-and-1 at the Cowboys' 31-yard line, Prescott and the offense wasted no time in reaching the end zone on their first possession. The quarterback completed all six of his pass attempts in the series, the last of which was a 3-yard loft to Jalen Tolbert in the end zone for the game's first points.
And when the Commanders' next snap saw cornerback Jourdan Lewis strip the ball from the hands of running back Brian Robinson and recover the fumble himself, the Cowboys were back in business at the Washington 31-yard line.
The Cowboys starters stayed in for one more series after the gift, but Aubrey's bad-luck day continued when he clunked a 36-yard field goal attempt off the left upright, no good.
But he would find redemption soon enough. With Prescott and most of the other key starters taking a seat on the sidelines for the rest of the game, Cooper Rush took over behind center and led the Cowboys into enemy territory. That left it to Aubrey, whose 50-yard field goal went right down the middle to wrap up the game's scoring, 38-10.
