If you hadn’t heard, the Blackhawks’ home opener was Tuesday night. Which meant, for the first time in more than three years, Patrick Kane was skating in a home game in Chicago. And the place was ready to explode from the jump. Here’s how the Blackhawks officially welcomed him back — to conclude the player intros before the game.
However, things really started to ramp up at the morning skate when Kane emerged from the room and was followed by a familiar face in a hoodie. Then another familiar face appeared on the ledge where the front office sits and watches practice. When we were in the room, both individuals entered and approached their former teammate. Niklas Hjalmarsson‘s sons got a pic and some autographs. Jonathan Toews offered a few words of wisdom to Frank Nazar about playing with Kane. Things felt right in the world for a few moments.

— Chicago Blackhawks (@NHLBlackhawks) October 7, 2026I mentioned on WGN Radio before the game that the look on Frank Nazar’s face when he walked into the room and saw Toews sitting between his stall and Kane’s was awe — only topped by his reaction when Toews started to just joke around with him like they were teammates. Panger chatted with Nazar before the game started and he stated the facts: “If you can’t learn something from those guys, then something might be wrong with you.“
