SOUTH BEND — They first played college basketball against one another in 1965, at Chicago Stadium on that city’s then-seedy/suspect west side where for so long, walking late night was an at-your-own-risk adventure.  Subsequent seasons and games saw Notre Dame men’s basketball and Duke play in the 1978 Final Four at the Checkerdome in St. Louis. They played out in New York City in 1990 and then way, way out in Anchorage in the first round of the 1998 Great Alaska Shootout. In 2013, they became conference colleagues, and now play at least once a season.
