The Newton City Council on Nov. 20 voted 5-1 — with Randy Ervin voting no — in favor of upgrading the disc golf course at Woodland Park, a move that will no doubt please the golfers who frequent Maytag Park for leisure and competitive play. The upgrades to the disc golf course in Woodland Park are included in the capital improvement plan for FY24-FY28. Currently, the 12-hole course is not ideal for hosting tournaments.
