To the Editor: We saw a great football game at Ukiah High Friday night, Nov. 11. On a cool, still night, after a rousing Veterans Day rendition of our national anthem by the UHS band, our young men played a stronghearted and skillful post-season playoff game against a team (Las Lomas of Walnut Creek) which was forecast by some smart sports writers to wallop the Wildcats. Though our guys came out on the wrong end of a 17-7 score, it was a close, suspenseful, roller-coaster contest all the way. Though surely disappointed, the only comments the Ukiah team and coaches would’ve heard in the home stands were that it was a courageously played game, which could’ve gone either way.
