Following the impact of Hurricane Marie, Ocean Way Festival has been canceled due to beach erosion.
The festival, which was set to take place over two days on Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27, had The Killers and Olivia Dean scheduled as headliners, along with other appearances from Jack White, Sublime, Alvvays, Khruangbin, Durand Jones & The Indications, and Hiatus Kaiyote.
“Due to the impacts of Hurricane Marie, the City of Santa Monica has canceled the inaugural Ocean Way Festival,” event organizers said in a statement on Friday, September 11. “Storm surf and runoff has caused significant beach erosion and the festival can no longer be safely held as planned.”

— Ocean Way Fest (@oceanwayfest) September 11, 2026The statement further added that, while the event will no longer take place in 2026, “plans are already underway to bring the festival to Santa Monica in 2027.”
“Refunds are being processed automatically, and no further action is required on your part,” the statement continued. “Please allow a few business days for the refund to appear in your account. Thank you for your support. See you soon.”
Santa Monica mayor Caroline Torosis also released a statement.
“We’ve spent more than a year on this festival, and I’ve spent most of it telling anyone who would listen that music was coming back to this beach,” Torosis said, per Variety. “I wanted to stand on the sand, see the Pier lit up behind that stage, and sing along with our community. I feel for the fans, the artists, and the businesses counting on that weekend, and I’m right there with them. But the surf took the beach we planned this on, and we cannot put tens of thousands of festival-goers on that sand until it’s safe.”
This is the second beachside concert that has been canceled in California this year, with the inaugural LA Jazz Festival on Dockweiler Beach being canceled due to finances and permitting falling through.
