A Fort Bragg man was arrested on suspicion of forgery recently after allegedly being found in possession of a Ukiah’s woman’s checkbook, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported. According to the MCSO, deputies on routine patrol on Kawi Place in Willits around 10:15 p.m. Nov. 29 stopped a man who was known to be “out of custody on bond” and subject to search by law enforcement. When deputies searched the suspect, identified by the MCSO as Carlos Ogawa, a 35-year-old resident of Fort Bragg, they did not find any “contraband,” but report that when searching his vehicle, they found a checkbook belonging to a 77-year-old Ukiah woman.
