Alabama’s women’s basketball only had four members return from last season, including sophomore guard Ace Austin.
They didn’t have a returning head coach either. Instead, new head coach Pauline Love had to curate and recruit almost an entirely new roster.
And so far, most of those transfers have made an incredible impact.
A recent transfer to Alabama’s women’s basketball team is senior forward Aaliyah Roberson. She transferred from TCU to the Crimson Tide.
During Roberson’s first year at TCU, she averaged 1.9 points per game. This rose to 7.8 her sophomore year, before going down to 4.7 points during her junior year before she was medically redshirted. She redshirted after suffering an injury at the 2025 USA Basketball 3X Nationals.
During the past two games for the Crimson Tide, she has drawn first blood in both games. Both of which were three-pointers.
Roberson not only scored first in the past two games, but she also scored six points in the first quarter in both.
Currently, she averages about 10.5 points per game.
Another transfer to the Crimson Tide is sophomore forward Kylie Torrence. Torrence transferred to Alabama from the University of Cincinnati.
For the Bearcats, Torrence averaged 7.7 points per game as a freshman.
In the most recent game versus Alabama A&M, Torrence scored 18 points scored overall, 12 of which were in the third quarter. This was the most points by any player in that game.
“She got hot, real quick,” said head coach for Alabama’s women’s basketball Pauline Love.
Torrence averages 15.67 points per game.
Sophomore guard Alayna West transferred to Alabama from DePaul University.
During her time at DePaul, West averaged about 7.1 points per game. For the Crimson Tide, she now averages 13.67 points per game.
Against Alabama A&M, West put up 16 points. She scored 7 of those points during the fourth quarter.
“I work for it,” said West when asked about what her mentality on the game is.
From Boston College, Sophomore Amirah Anderson is a transfer to the Crimson Tide. The guard averaged 7.9 points during her sophomore year.
Anderson had a buzzer-beating transition layup in the third quarter against Alabama A&M. She ended the game with 12 points.
Anderson averages 12 points per game.
“They gotta attack it like every day, like every shot is coming off the rim,” said Love.
