Mariah Quad, a finalist at the YMCA National Championships, has announced her verbal commitment to swim for Lehigh University in Pennsylvania beginning in the fall of 2027.

The New Jersey native is a senior at Morristown High School, where she has competed for the school’s swimming team since her sophomore year. She also currently trains year-round with Lakeland Hills Family YMCA, primarily specializing in free, back and IM.
Quad turned in a series of top performances at the 2025 EEX Holiday Classic in December, logging a personal best time in all seven of her events. She contested the 400 IM (4:34.66), 500 free (5:09.13), 100 back (58.15), 200 back (2:06.55), 200 IM (2:13.36), 200 free (1:56.88) and 200 fly (2:08.35). A few months later, Quad improved her times even further in the 500 free (5:08.14) and 100 back (57.62) at the NJISAA Meet of Champions.
At the 2026 YMCA 13 & Over State Championships in March, Quad delivered a strong showing. She clocked lifetime best performances in the 1000 free (10:27.45), 200 back (2:03.27), 100 fly (58.22), 200 IM (2:10.44) and 400 IM (4:33.68), earning a second swim in each event except the 1000. She also placed 6th in the 500 free (5:12.00) and 200 fly (2:09.85).
Quad posted a series of strong swims at the 2026 YMCA National Short Course Championships in April, earning a second swim in two events. She placed 16th in the 200 back (2:03.83) after setting a best time of 2:02.79 during prelims, and she finished 20th in the 400 IM (4:32.29 – PB) and 1000 free (10:27.28 – PB). She also contested the 500 free (5:11.58) and logged new personal best times in the 50 free (24.77) and 100 free (53.60) during a time trial session.

Based on the results from the 2026 Patriot League Championships, Quad would have landed in the ‘B’ final in the 200 back and 400 IM, giving her a chance to score some points early on for the Mountain Hawks.
On the team itself, Quad would have ranked 3rd in the 200 back, 4th in the 500 free and 400 IM, 5th in the 100 back and 6th in the 200 IM last season, setting her up to be a strong contributor when she joins the team.
Currently set to join Quad in the pool next fall are Gwen Devenney, Casey Demuth and Josephine Stanczak, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
