Pete Crow-Armstrong’s Platinum Glove, Cubs Team Award, Yankees Mock Trade, and Other Cubs Bullets ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

As I’ve mentioned in the past, I currently live in Florida. It has its upsides. There are plenty of sports teams, a lot of entertainment, and a relatively mild winter, which is a nice bonus.

However, when I’ve stepped outside for classes and work the last two days, it has felt like 95 degrees. Back home in Illinois, as many of you are probably experiencing right now, it’s between 30 and 50 degrees. We’re supposed to get some colder weather down here soon, and I’m hoping some of you in the comments who live down here can relate. Still, I really miss the Midwest fall weather right about now.

Pete Crow-Armstrong secured his first career Platinum Glove Award on Friday night, inching closer to his impending MVP award. He’s the first center fielder to win the award and the first Cub since Anthony Rizzo in 2016.

— Marquee Sports Network (@WatchMarquee) November 7, 2026 Pete Crow-Armstrong likely just had the best season in franchise history, and he’s only 24 years old. He’s also under contract for six more years, earning just $115 million through 2032. I’ve always thought Crow-Armstrong’s potential was very high, but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine he’d post 10.6 fWAR and quite possibly win the MVP unanimously. This is exactly the type of player a team should build around and go all-in to take advantage of its superstar’s prime, so here’s hoping Jed Hoyer and company do just that this winter.

— Carson Wolf (@TheWrigleyWire) November 7, 2026 Former Cub Cody Bellinger won the American League Platinum Glove Award, having won his second Gold Glove last week. The web of Cubs connections really is strong in the American League.

— Rawlings Baseball (@RawlingsSports) November 7, 2026 Bellinger is a great defender, but it’s extremely confusing how the award didn’t go to Ceddanne Rafaela, who is pretty easily the best defender in the American League. Last season, Rafaela lost to Bobby Witt Jr., who is admittedly a fantastic defender and was a valid choice. This year, I can’t say the same. Not to take anything away from Bellinger, who had an impressive season, but this is yet another example of why fan voting is the worst possible way to determine the best defender in each league.

— Nyanasaur (@Nyanasaur) November 7, 2026 If PCA’s award wasn’t enough, the Cubs took home even more hardware last night, winning their second straight National League Best Defensive Team Award. They led the league in Defensive Runs Saved (115), Outs Above Average (73), Fielding Run Value (72), and Defensive fWAR (72.1), among several other statistics. That OAA mark of 73 is the most by any team in a single season since OAA became a statistic in the 2010s.

— MLB (@MLB) November 7, 2026 Talk radio often has callers offer crazy ideas, but this is one of the most absurd trade packages I’ve ever seen, and it’s courtesy of a Yankees fan named Tony. He suggested a trade that would send Aaron Judge to the Cubs in return for Pete Crow-Armstrong, Nico Hoerner, and Shota Imanaga (…who is a free agent, but that’s hardly scratching the surface on the absurdity of this suggestion). He then suggested that the Yankees would sign Tarik Skubal with that extra money. Good luck with all that. Just so we’re clear, the Cubs would not do a one-for-one swap of Judge and Crow-Armstrong right now, let alone that full package. Pretend your Jed Hoyer: Would you rather have a recently injured 34-year-old making $40M per year (even one as great as Judge) or a 24-year-old unanimous MVP on a team-friendly deal? And that’s excluding Nico Hoerner’s value … and the fact that he also wants another pitcher on top of this. It’s just nonsense at the most extreme level, and it felt too fun not to bring up.

A caller on TMKS today proposed a trade that would send Aaron Judge to the Cubs for PCA, Nico Hoerner, and Shota Imanaga… and thinks the Yankees should use the extra money to sign Tarik Skubal…?? pic.twitter.com/LAI4UF3OhI
