ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It’s been a very warm start to the month of November, but the weekend will prove otherwise. A slow moving area of low pressure is moving in now, and will continue to meander over the area Saturday, before moving east on Sunday. Scattered showers and some occasional periods of rain will fall on Saturday. It won’t be a total washout, as we’ll have some dry time, but the rain we get will tend to be hit and miss, making it difficult to plan outdoor activities while staying dry. It’ll also be a cooler day, with highs in the upper 40s to near 50 under a mainly gray sky.
Sunday will be a nicer day for outdoor plans. We’ll see intervals of clouds and sunshine, and dry weather until late evening. The breeze will be noticeable, gusting to 30mph at times. It’ll also be a bit more seasonable, with highs making it back into the lower to mid 50s. Some showers will start to work back in by late evening/overnight ahead of our next fast moving area of low pressure.
This will keep showers around into the start of Monday, but should move out through the day, with dry and seasonable weather Tuesday and Wednesday. Then we turn our attention to what may be our first flakes of the season by late next week and into next weekend. An unseasonably cold shot of air will drop through the Great Lakes starting Thursday of next week, peaking on Friday and Saturday. This would likely produce some lake effect snow showers Friday and into Saturday, before winding down as warmer air moves in. At the same time, there are some signs of a potential coastal low developing. This may help to enhance the snow in some spots, should it develop. At this point, it’s a “no biggie” snow, but rather just our first flakes of the season. We’ll continue to monitor into the weekend on News10NBC on air and online.
