For Beyond the Gates breakout star Lauren Buglioli, being part of the series is a dream come true, and now the actress has opened up about what the experience means to her.
Buglioli attended the 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, where Dishin Days’ Tony Moore interviewed her on the event’s red carpet.
During the conversation, Moore asked Buglioli what being a part of the groundbreaking drama means to her. The actress quickly responded, “It means everything.”
She went on to explain how impactful it is to be a part of something that “brings joy to people,” and how working on a program that prioritizes representation allows “people to see themselves represented; that’s all you could ask for as an artist.”
Buglioli explained she feels truly grateful for the experience. “To be a part of something that really matters, it’s just everything.”
The actress went on to share her reaction to her character, adding, “Then to just be a mess of a woman with a beautiful mess of a woman on it is so much fun.”
For Buglioli, the most eye-opening moment is when fans stop her to say hello and explain what the show means to them: “This is why I do what I do.”
Ultimately, when thinking about her experience on the show, Buglioli explained that “it’s a blessing.”

Beyond the Gates is the first new soap opera to be greenlit in over twenty-five years, following Passions for NBC back in 1999. Beyond the Gates is groundbreaking as the first hour-long daytime drama to focus on a predominantly affluent black family, the Duprees. It follows in the footsteps of the half-hour soap opera Generations that aired on NBC between 1989 and 1991.
Buglioli joined the cast of Beyond the Gates from the very first episode as businesswoman Vanessa McBride. Since joining the show, Vanessa has found herself at the center of some of Fairmount Crest’s biggest storylines, including the death of her husband, Doug McBride (Jason Graham), and her ongoing relationship with local mobster Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom).
Beyond the Gates airs weekdays on CBS and streams weeknights on Paramount+. Viewers can catch up on all the drama from the beginning on Paramount+, Pluto TV’s dedicated 24/7 Beyond the Gates FAST Channel, or Tubi.
