The IKEA and Xbox Collab Just Dropped Heavy-Duty Gaming Furniture for Grown-Ups ...Saudi Arabia

After months of leaked renders and promotional teasers, the joint venture between IKEA and Microsoft’s Xbox division is available online. The drop includes modular storage units, desks and peripheral accessories. Customers can order immediately for home delivery.

IKEA is no stranger to brand collabs. The 2019 MARKERAD collaboration with the late Virgil Abloh introduced cult-like sneakerhead drop culture to its roster. At the time, customers camped out for receipt-printed rugs and glass door cabinets. That energy bled directly into their current gaming strategy.

This marks the latest push by the Swedish furniture giant into the multibillion-dollar video game peripheral market. In 2021, IKEA partnered with Asus ROG to release the UPPSPEL line, which sold out within 48 hours. They followed it up later with the BRÄNNBOLL collection. That release put aside the typical gaming theme of neon-drenched cyberpunk aesthetics. It opted instead for muted, neutral tones designed to blend into standard living room decor. The move turned out to be the right one. The collection sold out in record time. The brand’s SYMFONISK collaboration with Sonos followed the same theme of hardware meant to integrate into customers’ existing spaces without the room looking like a call center.

YXSTABY products include headset stands, under-desk cable management boxes, motorized sit-stand desks featuring built-in power routing. Additionally, the seating options are meant to prioritize size inclusivity. The desk chairs feature heavy reinforced steel bases and the seat pan widths have been expanded. These units are meant to accommodate a variety of body types and higher weight capacities than standard office fare.

The prices are true IKEA: smaller desktop accessories sit in the $15 to $30 range, with the furniture pieces hovering around the $200 mark. IKEA’s design teams spent hundreds of hours observing professional esports competitors and casual streamers in their homes. The brand noted consoles require certain airflow clearances to prevent hardware overheating during extended use, while controllers need accessible charging stations that don’t crowd the desktop workspace.  They also tracked physical pain points, wrist fatigue and cable drag. Xbox engineers worked closely with IKEA, supplying the hardware dimensions and thermal output data for the Series X and S consoles.

The collab is live across the US now.
