Mike Love’s health struggles are keeping the Beach Boys off the road a little longer, with the band canceling two more scheduled performances.
Earlier this month, Love returned to performing with the Beach Boys at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium after canceling several shows due to his undisclosed health condition. The 85-year-old singer stayed in his seat throughout the concert and sang backing vocals.
John Stamos, who has joined the Beach Boys’ touring lineup, said Love was eager to keep performing even as doctors encouraged him to rest.
“Despite doctors, family and friends urging him to focus on his health, he insists on being on stage,” Stamos said at the time. “We don’t know what tomorrow brings. But we have tonight.”
In a more recent statement to The New York Times, Love said he was “putting [his] full energy into rehab.”
The latest cancellations affect two shows at Epcot in Orlando, Florida, where the Beach Boys had been scheduled to perform on November 11 and 12. John Stamos and California Sound will replace the Beach Boys at both shows.
Rolling Stone reported that California Sound may be the Beach Boys’ touring band without Love, though no official confirmation has been given.
Love has the right to tour under the Beach Boys’ name thanks to a legal agreement reached in 1998. Al Jardine, another of the band’s cofounders, continues to perform with his own group, the Pet Sounds Band.
As of now, the Beach Boys have one remaining concert scheduled for 2026, a November 13 performance at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Bristol, Virginia. The band has also announced a May 8, 2027, show at River Cree Resort and Casino in Enoch, Alberta, Canada.
