Alabama football has formally removed junior defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. from its roster after details emerged of his Friday arrest on two misdemeanor charges.
“After gathering more information on the situation, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. will no longer be a part of our program,” said Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer in a statement released Tuesday. “He did not live up to the standards and expectations that I have set for this team and our players.”
Kirkpatrick’s profile on Alabama Athletics’ website has been removed in the wake of DeBoer’s statement. He is accused of sharing a photo of a University of Alabama Police Department officer and his family on Facebook on Oct. 20, according to multiple reports.
The Gadsden native is also alleged to have included the caption “Dis him?” in the Facebook post.
Per a deposition filed in the Tuscaloosa County District Court on Monday, the officer who Kirkpatrick posted to his Facebook account conducted the traffic stop involving the defensive back in November 2025 that led to his arrest and later charges of three counts of reckless endangerment, attempting to elude, and speeding.
Kirkpatrick is alleged to have also sent a vulgar message to the officer via Facebook Messenger that said, “Ayy b— a– [n-word]? Text me back don’t be no b—!”
Kirkpatrick did not appear in Alabama’s 31-20 win over Texas A&M on Saturday after being ruled out less than two hours before kickoff, despite not appearing on any prior SEC Student-Athlete Availability Reports that week. The junior’s suspension for violating team rules was announced shortly after.
He is the son of former Alabama defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Sr. The older Kirkpatrick earned first-team All-American honors in 2011 and helped lead the Crimson Tide to two Bowl Championship Series national championships across three seasons with the program.
