As fans get ready to watch Tara Lipinski’s new HGTV show, Bargain Holiday Showdown, a new preview of the Christmas competition series, provided to People, promises plenty of action from the panicked rivals, not to mention fabulously festive decorating-related drama.
During the six episodes, “two teams of friends, family and neighbors battle it out to prove who has the most holiday spirit,” according to People.
In the new trailer, the Olympic gold medalist figure skater and TV personality who is acting as the new show’s host sits down with a storybook while narrating what viewers will be seeing. With a very Night Before Christmas poem vibe, she can be heard saying, “Twas the season of showdowns, with budgets so tight. As two teams take on challenges from morning till night.”
To be a little more specific, the teams are given 48 hours to put together a prize-worthy seasonally themed space in their home.
She continues, “The stockings were hung, and the crafters at play. With glue guns and garlands, they’re DIY-ing away. Themes like 12 Days of Christmas and Naughty and Nice to Tartan Traditions and Christmas on Ice. From Santa’s own workshop of tinsel and cheer, to a retro revival that turns back the year.”
“The budgets are small, but their visions are big,” Lipinski adds — and FYI, the teams are only given $500 to make the festive decorating magic happen. “For some cash and for glory, they’ll trim every twig. So grab your hot cocoa. Get cozy, settle in. It’s the Big Bargain Holiday Showdown. Let the season begin!”
In the preview, teams run around while throwing up decorations and attempting to recreate the visions they’ve come up with in order to become the champion. As you might imagine, we’re not talking about a few twinkly lights. Instead, we get glimpses of major displays and ambitious intentions that may or may not come together in the end.
Bargain Holiday Showdown premieres on November 10 at 9|8c on HGTV and will then continue to air Tuesday nights, with new episodes available to stream the next day on HBO Max.
