Fall is unequivocally my favorite season, and October is the best month of all. The trees are bursting with shades of red and orange, the air is crisp, and Halloween festivities are in full swing. While I love spending my days chasing colorful foliage and picking apples at local orchards, some of my favorite autumn traditions begin after the sun goes down.

There’s something about crisp October evenings, glowing jack-o’-lanterns, and gathering around a fire pit that makes autumn feel especially magical.

This fall, I’ve been making the most of the spooky season. from visiting pumpkin patches and haunted attractions to carving pumpkins with my family and friends. And with days packed with fall activities, I wanted to create a warming seasonal drink to keep me going through all my favorite activities.

My inspiration? 5-hour ENERGY’s new limited-edition Pumpkin Spice flavor.

I decided to combine the seasonal shot with rich hot chocolate, maple syrup and a few festive toppings to create a Pumpkin Spice Maple Hot Chocolate. The result is a creamy, chocolatey drink with warm pumpkin spice flavors and a hint of maple sweetness, plus an extra boost of energy to help power through a packed day of fall festivities.

What Does Pumpkin Spice 5-hour ENERGY Taste Like?

Pumpkin spice is the season’s most iconic flavor. One bite or sip of something pumpkin spice flavored instantly makes me think of fall. From freshly baked cookies at the farmers market to cozy coffee shops on crisp October mornings, the spice has become synonymous with the season.

The new limited-edition Pumpkin Spice 5-hour ENERGY captures those familiar autumn flavors in a convenient energy shot. It has the sweet, warmly spiced taste you’d expect from pumpkin spice, with notes reminiscent of cinnamon and other classic fall baking spices. Pumpkin Spice is part of the brand’s limited-edition fall collection, which also includes Caramel Apple.

You can enjoy the Pumpkin Spice shot on its own, but I wanted to experiment with turning it into a warm drink to have on an especially busy fall day. So, hot chocolate immediately came to mind. Chocolate and pumpkin spice are a surprisingly delicious combination, and I thought adding maple syrup would bring another classic autumn flavor into the mix.

The finishing touches are whipped cream, a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice and a cinnamon stick, which make it feel like something you’d order at a charming cafe during the fall.

How to Make My Pumpkin Spice Maple Hot Chocolate

One of my favorite things about this recipe is how simple it is. You don’t need any fancy equipment or complicated ingredients. In fact, you probably already have most of what you need on hand from your fall grocery shopping! Plus, you can whip it up in just a few minutes.

Ingredients

1 bottle Pumpkin Spice 5-hour ENERGY 8 ounces prepared hot chocolate 1 teaspoon maple syrup, or to taste Whipped cream, for topping Pumpkin pie spice, for sprinkling 1 cinnamon stick, for garnish

Directions

Add the Pumpkin Spice 5-hour ENERGY and maple syrup, stirring until everything is combined. Top with a generous swirl of whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice. In just a few minutes, you’ve transformed a classic cup of hot chocolate into a festive pumpkin spice drink with an extra boost of energy.

If you love chocolate and pumpkin spice, this combination brings together two of the best flavors.

The hot chocolate gives the drink a rich, creamy base, while the Pumpkin Spice 5-hour ENERGY adds a warm, spiced flavor that makes it taste distinctly autumnal. I especially liked how the maple syrup complements the pumpkin spice. It adds a little extra sweetness and a subtle maple flavor without overpowering the chocolate.

The whipped cream makes the drink feel even more indulgent, and the pumpkin pie spice sprinkled on top adds another layer of those familiar fall flavors. The cinnamon stick is a fun finishing touch, too. Not only does it make the drink look extra festive, but it adds to the cozy, seasonal presentation.

Overall, the combination reminds me of a classic cup of hot chocolate with a pumpkin spice twist. It’s sweet, chocolatey and warmly spiced, making it a fun alternative to the usual fall coffee drinks.

A Pumpkin Spice Pick-Me-Up for All Your Spooky Season Adventures

One of the things I love most about fall is how many different ways there are to celebrate the season. Some days that means wandering through pumpkin patches, visiting haunted houses or spending an afternoon carving pumpkins.

And once the sun sets and the temperature drops, there’s nothing quite like gathering around a fire pit with family and friends. That’s exactly how I enjoyed my Pumpkin Spice Maple Hot Chocolate.

After a day filled with Halloween activities, my friend and I made our drinks, piled on the whipped cream and pumpkin pie spice, and headed outside to sit around the fire before we met up with our friends and family for a fun night at a local haunted house.

It felt like the perfect way to take a short break during a busy fall day, especially with the warmth of the bonfire and a mug of something chocolatey and pumpkin-spiced in hand.

I also love that the recipe gives a familiar fall favorite a different twist. Pumpkin spice usually makes me think of lattes, but pairing it with hot chocolate and maple syrup creates something a little different while still capturing the best seasonal flavors.

If your ideal October day involves pumpkin patches, Halloween decorations, haunted attractions, and chilly evenings around the fire, give this Pumpkin Spice Maple Hot Chocolate a try. It’s a delicious way to add a little extra fall flavor to your favorite seasonal traditions, with a boost of energy to keep the fun going!
