MONROE COUNTY, N.Y. — Over 24,000 voters turned out for the first two days of early voting in Monroe County, according to the Monroe County Board of Elections.
Officials said the turnout on the first day was almost double what they saw for the first day of midterms four years ago and close to what they saw in the presidential election. Greece Town Hall drew in the most voters at more than 1,700, and it was one of nine locations to draw at least 1,000 people.
About 9,000 people came out to vote on the second day. The Board of Elections said it did not expect such a large turnout but was prepared for it and found it exciting to see so many people voting.
“We do have a very robust outreach team here. So yeah, I think we are very proud of the fact that we had certainly a hand in making sure that voters were registered and educated, to feel good about turning out today,” said Democratic Commissioner Jackie Ortiz, Monroe County Board of Elections.
“Yeah, we have a website that we’ve really it’s been pushing very much, an instructor instructing people to go to, and one of the, one of the big highlights of that is our early voting part of that, and it shows a map and all the sites that we’ve been talking about for the last four months,” said Republican Commissioner Peter Elder, Monroe County Board of Elections.
Early voting runs through Sunday, Nov. 1, and Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
