MeTV.com reported that Lynn, who appeared in five seasons of the show’s eight-season run, shared she had a fondness for Griffith in a 2012 CNN interview, following the actor’s death at 86.
“Yeah, I really loved Andy. I really did. I had a little crush on him when I first got on the show,” said Lynn, who first appeared as Thelma Lou during Season 1, Episode 22, which premiered in 1961, per IMDb.
She clarified that she quelled any romantic feelings for Griffith out of respect for his marriage to his first wife, Barbara Griffith, whom he divorced in 1972.
“But, he was married. So I got over that pretty quickly,” said the late actress, who died in 2021 at the age of 95. “Anyway, he couldn’t have been sweeter to me.”

She also remembered Griffith being “so warm” and “fun” while filming The Andy Griffith Show episodes. In addition, Lynn shared that she and Griffith remained friendly after she left the show in 1966.
“I really cared a lot about Andy. And it wasn’t like just somebody you had worked with that you did a show or two, and that was it, you know. I really felt close to him. And I’ve kept in touch,” said Lynn during the 2012 interview.
