On Friday, Texas A&M raced their 2nd official meet of the season against Louisiana State, and a group of men’s athletes that includes NCAA qualifiers Connor Foote and Logan Brown have not competed at either of their first two official meets.
The Aggies took on Georgia on October 10th, falling 78-222. Yesterday, they raced LSU, and the men lost 116.5 to 181.5. The A&M men won’t swim again until their midseason meet at the Texas Hall of Fame Invite starting November 18th.
There are seven athletes on the 26-athlete roster who have not raced at either of the last two meets from a variety of classes. A few of them raced at Texas A&M’s exhibition intrasquad meet vs TCU, but have not raced since.
Connor Foote is a 5th year, having taken a redshirt year last season to focus on an internship in his major of construction science. His junior year, the 2024-2025 NCAA season, he finished 10th in the 50 free at NCAAs, stopping the clock in 18.78. Foote did not race at the TCU intrasquad meet with his last competition being the USA Swimming National Championships in July, where he finished 9th in the 50 fly.
Logan Brown is a senior this year, and was one of three individual qualifiers for the Aggies at the 2026 NCAA Championships and the only swimmer. He scored 4 points after he took 13th in the 200 breaststroke. Brown did race at the Intrasquad, winning the 100 IM and 150 breaststroke events.
Ben Scholl, another member of their NCAA roster, is also a senior this year. He did not qualify individually for the NCAA Championships, but was a member of both Aggie relays, leading off the 15th place 200 free relay in 19.01. He also did not race at the Intrasquad meet, last swimming in June at the Texas Senior Circuit IV meet.
Chase Swearingen is the only junior of the group. He also raced at the Intrasquad meet, his first meet back after missing the second half of the 2025-2026 season due to injury. He won the 50 free and 50 fly events at the TCU vs Texas A&M Intrasquad meet.
Alejandro Michelena is a sophomore who also competed at the NCAA Championships for the program, anchoring the team’s 22nd place 400 freestyle relay. He also swam at the exhibition Intrasquad meet, finishing 4th in the 50 fly.
A pair of freshmen in swimmer Wyatt Vitiello and diver Manuel Iglesias have also not competed. Vitiello swam at the Intrasquad, finishing 6th in the 600 free, 2nd in the 150 back, and 2nd in the 300 IM. Iglesias has not competed at all.
As of publishing, all seven men are still on the roster and multiple requests for comment have not been answered.
