NCSA Championships finalist Avery Antoniewski has announced her verbal commitment to swim for Iowa State University beginning in the fall of 2028.

“I am beyond excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to Iowa State University where I will be continuing my athletic and academic career! I want to thank my family, teammates, and coaches for pushing me to be the best version of myself in and out of the pool! I would like to give a special thank you to my mom and dad for their endless support and encouragement during this process! I also want to thank Coach Matt and Coach Mo along with the rest of the staff at Iowa State for giving me this opportunity!! Go Cyclones!! ”

A junior at Mukwonago High School in Wisconsin, Antoniewski has been a member of the Waukesha South/Mukwonago Co-Op high school swim team since her freshman year. She currently trains year-round with Waukesha Express Swim Team, where she primarily specializes in free, back and IM.

Antoniewski turned in a strong showing at the 2025 Winter Junior Championship West in December. She contested the 200 free (1:54.11 – PB), 100 back (55.55), 200 back (2:03.65) and 200 IM (2:06.58).

At the 2026 NCSA Spring Championships, Antoniewski earned a second swim in two events and clocked a lifetime best performance in one event. She placed 18th in the 50 back (25.42 – PB) and 23rd in the 100 back (55.78), and she contested the 200 free (1:53.69), 200 back (2:03.78), 100 fly (57.58) and 200 IM (2:11.16).

Antoniewski competed at the 2026 NCSA Summer Championships (LCM) in July, posting a series of strong performances. She placed 11th in the 50 back (30.41), 21st in the 100 back (1:05.97) and 40th in the 100 free (59.53) after setting a best time of 59.21 during prelims. She also raced the 200 free (2:10.16), 200 back (2:24.85), 100 fly (1:06.58) and 200 IM (2:28.97).

Antoniewski still holds a handful of personal best times from the 2024-2025 competition season, including in the 100 back (54.72) and 200 back (2:00.76).

Best Times SCY:

50 back – 25.42 100 back – 54.72 200 back – 2:00.76 100 free – 52.04 200 free – 1:52.75 200 IM – 2:06.20

A Division I program in the Big 12 Conference, the Iowa State women finished 9th overall at last season’s conference championships. Based on the results from the 2026 Big 12 Conference Championships, Antoniewski would have landed in the ‘C’ final in the 100 back, giving her a chance to score some points early on for the Cyclones.

On the team itself, Antoniewski would have been Iowa State’s top competitor in the 50 back and 100 back last season, and would have ranked 2nd in the 200 back, 3rd in the 200 free and 5th in both the 100 free and 200 IM. With almost two full seasons to go before she joins the team, it remains to be seen exactly how the roster will shake out, but Antoniewski is already poised to be a top contributor for the Cyclones.

Antoniewski is currently the only class of 2028 recruit committed to Iowa State.
