What makes collecting sports cards fun and exciting is having cards of your favorite player. I have a decent little collection of Steve Larmer cards, which likely comes as a shock to those who have followed me religiously tweeting #Retire28 for two decades. The Blackhawks might never retire his number, but I have some pretty sweet cards at home.
I also have hundreds of unique Javier Báez cards from his time with the Cubs (and Mets… and a few Tigers…) that have admittedly not appreciated as much as my retirement would prefer. But I loved watching him as a player, and those cards are fun to look thru and remember his time in Chicago.
That’s what it’s about, right? At the end of the day, some people rip packs to make money. Others rip packs hoping to find the player they cheer for the most.
Which brings us to today’s thoughts on one of the bright young emerging stars on the Blackhawks: Frank Nazar.
Source: Card LadderAccording to Card Ladder, a PSA 10 of Nazar’s Young Guns rookie card from Upper Deck (see above) can be had for only $67 dollars. Which, as an aside, I absolutely love because of the whole 6-7 goal celebration from the last couple years. Amazing serendipity.
I don’t want to imply here that every Nazar card is going to be affordable for your average Blackhawks fan. The card below, Nazar’s 2024-25 The Cup Black Foil Rookie Shield auto 1 of 1 sold for $4,465.35 last week. In fact, 36 Nazar cards have sold for more than $1,000 according to Card Ladder’s data.
So, if you’re looking for a high end, premium card of Nazar, there’s a market of those cards out there. But if you’re looking to collect Nazar without putting your kid’s future college tuition in question, there are plenty of available options at very reasonable prices to consider.
