Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Daniela Linares Danzos from Danville, California, has announced her intention to swim and study at Stanford University beginning in the 2028-29 school year. She wrote on social media:

“Celebrating the dreams that come true! I couldn’t be happier to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at STANFORD UNIVERSITY! There are so many thanks I’d like to give, but first of all to my mom and dad for being there every step of the way! I’m also endlessly grateful for @pleasantonseahawks and the PLS coaching staff, especially Coach Joe and Coach Steve! Finally, my teammates, friends, past coaches, family, and anyone who has ever believed in me this wouldn’t be possible without you! This truly is a dream come true and my gratitude for @stanfordwswim is endless! Thank you to Coach Annie and Coach Chris for giving me this incredible opportunity! GO CARD!! ”

Stanford is off to an early recruiting start for the second year in a row, after many years during which only the Ivies had a later pre-read timeline. The Cardinal has now received two top 10 verbal commitments this week, with Linares Danzos, the number 6 recruit from our Way Too Early list of top girls’ swimmers in the class of 2028, announcing her verbal pledge along with #2 Reina Liu.

Linares Danzos is a junior at San Ramon Valley High School. She swims year-round with Pleasanton Seahawks and represents Mexico internationally. She is the Mexican national record-holder in the LCM 200 back with the 2:08.99 she swam in heats at the 2026 Pan Pacific Championships in August, which eclipsed her own mark of 2:10.72 from April 2026.

Linares Danzos skipped Winter Juniors last December to swim at the Mexican Open (25m), where she was runner-up in the 100 back (59.04) and 200 back (2:06.13), 5th in the 50 back (28.28, a PB), 11th in the 100 free (57.47), and 13th in the 50 fly (28.30). She then swam at CA/NV Sectionals in Walnut and logged SCY lifetime bests in the 100 back (53.22), 200 back (1:53.78), and 100 fly (54.12). She won both backstroke events and came in 5th in the 100 fly.

In high school season, the sophomore won the 100 back (52.94) and 100 fly (53.61) at the 2026 CIF North Coast Section Championships, and she led off the winning 200 medley relay with a 24.80 backstroke. All three times were PBs. At the California State Meet a week later, Linares Danzos placed 2nd in the 100 back, lowering her time to 52.60, and 3rd in the 100 fly with a PB of 53.18.

This summer, she competed at three high-level meets back-to-back: the XXV Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Santo Domingo, U.S. Nationals, and the Pan Pacific Championships. She swam the 50/100 free, 50/100/200 back, and 200 IM while representing Mexico at Pan Pacs, finaling in the 200 back (7th) and setting PBs of 56.90 in the 100 free and 2:08.99 in the 200 back (Mexican national record).

Linares Danzos owns the top time in the 200 back for this cohort, while Reina Liu is 2nd with 1:52.17. Both have just about what it took to score in the 200 back at NCAAs this past season (1:51.97), giving Stanford a massive advantage in the event for years to come.

Her best times would have scored at ACCs in the ‘A’ final of the 200 back and the ‘C’ finals of the 100 back and 100 fly.

Best SCY times:

200 back – 1:51.87 (best in class) 100 back – 52.60 50 back – 24.60 100 fly – 53.18 100 free – 50.62 50 free – 23.44 200 IM – 2:01.37 400 IM – 4:23.99 200 fly – 2:01.56 200 free – 1:52.22
