ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Residents at Pinnacle Apartments on South Clinton Avenue said a burst pipe flooded the first floor and left them without water for hours.
News10NBC’s Declan Stablow spoke with about half a dozen residents who described being unable to get into their apartments for hours after the flooding. Residents received a notice around 3 p.m. saying the water was out and the first floor was flooded.
One resident shared photos showing water on the ground and the fire department at the building. Crews stayed until a little after 5 p.m., residents said.
Management provided bottled water while the water was out, residents said. According to the letter sent to residents, the high-rise elevators were also down due to the water issue.
One woman said she could not get to her dog for about three hours because her wheelchair was at her boyfriend’s house. “My wheelchair was over boyfriend’s house, so I had to go back to his house to get this, because I have a manual wheelchair. And, I guess he had to go in the last bus, so I had to spend the night. So I had to come back here, get the dog. And finally at 10:30 at night when I get home there, it was all clear. So I can go up and get the dog,” said Christy Glenn.
Declan reached out to Pathstone, the company that manages the building, to confirm the information in the letter, find out what caused the flooding, and ask what the company is doing to prevent further maintenance issues, but has not heard back.
Many residents at Pinnacle Apartments are older or have disabilities. Residents said they worry someone could get hurt if these problems continue.
News10NBC has reported on elevator problems at the building in the past.
