A west suburb of Chicago transformed into a Hollywood set this week for the filming of a Netflix movie set to release next year that is based on a viral and best-settling book.
Town House Books and Cafe, located at 105 N. 2nd Ave. in St. Charles, will make an appearance in the upcoming Netflix romantic comedy based on “Better Than the Movies” by Lynn Painter, a New York Times bestselling novel that is also highly popular on ‘BookTok’ and ‘Bookstagram’.
The film is directed by Julia Hart and stars Beatrice Kitsos, known for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and David Iacono, of Jurassic World Rebirth. It’s expected to release on Netflix next year.
The City of St. Charles shared photos of the production set on social media earlier this week.
“Filming took place under the production codename ‘Big Red,'” the city said in the post. “We’re excited to see St. Charles on the big screen when the film is expected to hit Netflix in 2027!”
