The song first hit the charts in August, becoming the 32nd charting track for the Canadian rockers. It’s the lead single from Nickelback’s upcoming 11th studio album, Everything Under the Sun, which will be released on Oct. 30. The band announced the much-anticipated release in July, with Chad Kroeger stating that the forthcoming record has “every side of the band on it.”
“There are songs that hit as hard as anything we’ve ever done, songs that take chances, and songs that remind us why we’ve been doing this together for so long,” the front man said in a statement. “‘Rattle The Cage’ felt like the perfect way to kick the door open – it has the energy we’ve been feeding off every night on stage, and we can’t wait for people to hear it.”
Nickelback first made the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart in March 2000 with “Leader of Men,” which climbed to the No. 8 spot. The following spot, “How You Remind Me,” one of the band’s biggest — and TikTok viral — hits reached the top spot, where it remained for 13 weeks. At the time, it was one of only eight songs to dominate the chart for so many weeks.
In 2023, the band starred in its own Netflix documentary, Hate to Love: Nickelback, a 90-minute look into the band’s rise to fame in the 2000s and the online backlash it has faced in more recent years thanks to social media, with the film’s producer stating that the hitmakers had a “Marmite” reputation.
