September 18, 2026 Tempe, AZ SCY (25 Yards) Event Results Total Time ResultsThe Arizona State Sun Devils swam their annual Pentathlon on Friday, and they started the season off on a very strong note.
The yearly “meet” is actually a practice, made up of 5x100s on 15 minutes. Athletes race a 100 of each stroke and the 100 IM, and their times are added together for their total swim. The team keeps track of individual records for each event and then a total time record.
Men’s Results
Senior Ilya Kharun won the pentathlon for the men’s team this year, swimming a total time of 3:54.49, a little less than three tenths off the 3:54.21 he swam at last year’s practice.
The highlight of his performance was his 100 butterfly, where he swam 44.54, the fastest time on the team by more than a second. While he was slightly slower than the 44.15 he swam last year, his swim today would have finished 11th at the 2026 NCAA Championships.
Kharun won each 100 besides the 100 breaststroke, which went to pro swimmer Andy Dobrzanski in 52.32. Swedish freshman Oliver Munn was the top swimmer on the current ASU roster, finishing 2nd in 53.02.
In the 100 free, ASU pro Patrick Sammon technically swam the top time of 41.96, but he is not a current member of the ASU roster. Kharun swam the fastest time among current ASU swimmers.

Women’s Results
Junior Julia Ullmann won the women’s pentathlon in 4:36.43, taking more than a second off her 2025 winning time of 4:37.69 and getting closer to the overall pentathlon record of 4:35.53 set by Charli Brown in 2022.
There were also two records set in the women’s meet. Sophomore breaststroker Lucie Vasquez had a massive swim in the 100 breast, stopping the clock in 1:00.28 to break Iza Adame‘s 2024 record of 1:01.28. Vasquez’s time was only five hundredths slower than the 1:00.23 lifetime best she set to finish 6th at the Big 12 Championships.
Freestyler Albane Cachot also set a new 100 free record, swimming 48.10 to win the event. She took more than a second off Caroline Bentz‘s 49.31 from 2024. This was Cachot’s first pentathlon after she arrived halfway through last season.
Ullmann finished 2nd in the 100 fly to senior Miriam Sheehan, stopping the clock in 52.33 to come in about half-a-second behind Sheehan’s 51.75.
In the 100 back, Ullmann finished 7th in 54.97. Pro group swimmer Kaitlyn Owens swam 51.63 to set the top time while junior Jordan Greber swam 53.60 to set the top time on the current ASU team.
The only event that Ullmann won was the 100 IM, which she swam in 55.62 to finish eight tenths ahead of freshman Ellie Chalupsky‘s 56.45.
