I am so excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Grand Canyon University! I would like to thank the Lord, my parents and family for their unwavering support, and my teammates who push me day in and day out to be a better athlete and person. Special shoutout to my siblings for being my training buddies and relay mates . A huge thank you to Coach Justin Slade and Coach Riley Babson for mentoring me through this process and helping me get to where I am today. Thank you to Coach Devin Price for always believing in me. Lastly, thank you to Coach Paul, Coach Harper, and Coach Steve for giving me this incredible opportunity! I can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes me. Lopes Up!! Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Edquid hails from Marana, Arizona and represents Pusch Ridge Christian Academy in Tucson. In the three years she has spent with the program, Edquid has collected three AIA Division II State Championship titles. Most recently, as a junior, Edquid won both the 100 breast and 200 IM at the AIA Division II State championships, clocking 1:03.76 and 2:04.53, respectively. As a sophomore, she won the 100 breast (1:05.14), and added a runner-up finish in the 200 IM (2:06.48).
In March, Equid competed at the Speedo Sectionals in Boise, where she was a two-time champion, winning both the 200 breast (2:14.37), and the 400 IM (4:28.23). That same outing, she added two silver medals in the 100 fly (55.39) and the 100 breast (1:03.33), while also finishing 3rd in the 200 IM (2:04.78).
Edquid notched her fastest ever 400 IM at the Lost Dutchman Invite in February in 4:23.07, and clocked a career-fastest 200 IM at the Speedo Winter Junior Championships in December in 2:04.24.

Based on Edquid’s best times, she would have placed 13th in the 200 breast, 14th in the 400 IM, and 20th in the 100 breast at those championships last season.
Edquid comes in with a range of available events, many of which could secure some points for the Grand Canyon women at the conference level.
She is well tested in her race ability, and has thrived when the stage is biggest. It is assumed that she will likely focus on the breaststroke and IM events, though it is not out of the picture to potentially see her dabble in the freestyle events at some point.
Edquid is the first publicized commitment for the Grand Canyon women in the 2027 recruiting class.
