Buckle up for an afternoon tip-off today, as the Chicago Bulls return home to face one of the same three teams they’ve played over the last two weeks.
The Philadelphia 76ers and their Goliath of a star-studded starting lineup, featuring Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown, LeBron James and Joel Embiid, will all be in town as Chicago hopes to play the role of David.
These two teams faced off earlier this week, with a shorthanded 76ers team winning comfortably. But tonight, Chicago will have a new big man in the mix, with Nic Claxton potentially making his team debut.

The Philadelphia 76ers and Chicago Bulls met earlier this week, with Philly blowing out Chicago 126-107. Every member of the Sixers’ stacked starting five contributed a big stat line. Tyrese Maxey finished with 26 points, 11 assists, two steals and two blocks. Jaylen Brown added 25 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, while VJ Edgecombe had 21 points and five assists. LeBron James chipped in with 15 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, and Joel Embiid finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists. However, Chicago struggled to shoot from behind the arc, making just 10 of 28 attempts from three, while also allowing 62 points in the paint and 31 fast-break points. During that stretch, Chicago shot 4-of-8 from three and 14-of-23 from the field. They weren’t settling for difficult shots, and the offense was finally clicking. Had they managed to carry that momentum for a little longer, this loss could have been a much more competitive one. Now, the Bulls are probably more likely to have a poor shooting night than a great one, but if they ever needed to be efficient, this would be one of those nights. Especially with all eyes on them. Another big storyline for Chicago tonight is Nic Claxton, who is set to make his season and Bulls debut. Claxton, who’s dealt with injuries throughout his young career, suffered a hamstring injury that kept him out of the opening two and a half weeks of NBA action. Last season, he averaged 11.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game in what most would consider a down year. At his peak, however, Claxton was an incredibly efficient double-double threat who once finished in the top 10 of Defensive Player of the Year voting. Which version Chicago gets remains to be seen, but he could immediately give Chicago some much-needed paint protection while allowing Jalen Smith to anchor the bench unit. He was benched after scoring just five points on 2-of-12 shooting from the field and 1-of-7 from three. Caleb finished the first quarter without a point and later spoke about how he felt he needed the ball in his hands more early in games. Tonight, as he gets another crack at LeBron James, Wilson could come out with a little more urgency. That could either work in his favor or lead to another difficult outing, but Chicago desperately needs a good start against just about anyone right now.
