Nitro has become one of the biggest club teams in America under Koleber and also has one of the largest staffs of young coaches in the country. Koleber speaks passionately about fostering an environment where athletes and coaches alike want to come back, saying that the swimming itself is important but probably the smallest piece of the puzzle.
The former ASCA President made it a point at the World Clinic to speak to the 30-Under-30 coaches, not only wanting to give back his wisdom and experience but to connect with youths of the sport who might feel alone or isolated in what they’re doing on deck. His message? You’re not alone. Fail forward. And if you create a space where young swimmers want to come back every day, our sport is going to be just fine.
