VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – A 43-year-old Thousand Oaks man was arrested Tuesday with large amounts of narcotics while illegally occupying a storage area at a nearby building.

In August, the Thousand Oaks Directed Enforcement Unit opening an investigation into a 43-year-old Thousand Oaks man believed to be selling narcotics in the local area stated a press release Wednesday from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

On Sep. 8, detectives with the task force contacted the 43-year-old who showed symptoms and signs of being under the influence of an unspecified controlled substance and was found to have a burglary tool known as a "slim jim" and a key he was using to gain access to a storage area at a nearby building detailed the local sheriff's office.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, a search of the storage area revealed personal property and other evidence that the 43-year-old was illegally occupying the space and using an unauthorized connection to an electrical outlet without the building owner's permission.

A full search of the Thousand Oaks man's vehicle and the storage area resulted in the recovery of around one pound of marijuana, around half a pound of methamphetamine, 14 hydrocodone pills, various other pills, $940 in cash, and additional evidence of narcotics sales explained the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

The Ventura County Sheriff's Office shared that the 43-year-old was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility on the following charges:

The 43-year-old remains in custody with bail set at $50,000 added the local law enforcement agency.
