Muggy conditions linger through part of Labor Day weekend before relief arrives ...Middle East

News by : (NBC Chicago) -

Humid conditions are set to persist through Saturday, with temperatures in the 80s, but much more pleasant weather is in store for the latter part of Labor Day weekend.

NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Pete Sack said much more comfortable weather is headed toward the Chicago area despite a muggy start to Saturday. Sack noted dew point values can range anywhere from pleasant to dangerous this time of year, and since Monday, values have been in the “extreme” range at between 70 and 74 degrees.

The good news, Sack said, is “pleasant” values will return for both Sunday and Labor Day.

The edge will slowly come off the humidity on Saturday, but we’ll still be looking at rather muggy conditions for a good part of the day.

Hour-by-hour stormcast models show plenty of clouds through the morning – then sunshine becomes more widespread as winds arrive out of the north-northeast in the afternoon.

At around 6 p.m., dew points will sit in the upper 60s, keeping some humidity around.

Still, with winds out of the north at 10 to 15 miles an hour this evening and highs in the low 80s, conditions should be quite pleasant.

The slightly muggy conditions will linger through the overnight hours before more comfortable air arrives.

By 6 a.m., dew points will still be in the mid-60s. Air temperatures are expected to reach 67 degrees under mainly clear skies.

The day is shaping up to be fantastic, with sunshine in the afternoon and not much in the way of cloud cover.

Dew points will be in the mid-50s, with conditions turning very pleasant and an air temperature around 78 degrees.

Comfortable temperatures will continue into Monday morning, with sunshine, lake breezes and pleasant dew points expected all day. Sack said to expect dew points in the upper 50s and high temperatures around 80 degrees under mostly sunny skies.

After Monday’s high of 80 degrees, readings will climb back into the upper 80s on Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday’s high of 88 degrees will bring a chance of storms, and as a front arrives, temperatures will drop.

Storm chances will then return next Sunday.
