Speedo Sectionals qualifier Ady Elko has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at Boston University beginning in the fall of 2027. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Boston University!! A huge thank you to my family, friends, and teammates for all the constant support and encouragement. A special thank you to my dad/coach for building my confidence and pushing me to become the person I am today. I’m so beyond grateful and lucky to have you as my coach. Finally, I’d like to thank Coach James and Coach Steve for believing in me and giving me this amazing opportunity! Go Terriers!
A senior at Egg Harbor Twp High School in New Jersey, Elko competes year-round with the Egg Harbor Twp Seahawks club team, where she primarily specializes in middle-distance freestyle, IM, and backstroke. She is coming off a short course season that saw her drop over eight seconds in the 400 IM, just over three seconds in the 200 back, nearly two and a half seconds in the 500 free, and a few tenths in both the 200 IM and 200 free.
Elko clocked all of her current best times throughout various club meets on the season: she swam 4:57.55 in the 500 free at the South Jersey Interscholastic Swimming Association Invitational in January, 2:04.77 in the 200 IM at the NJISAA Meet of Champions in February, 1:52.73 in the 200 free and 2:02.25 in the 200 back at Speedo Sectionals – St. Mary’s City and 4:23.90 in the 400 IM at the Middle Atlantic Senior Championships, both held in March.
Top SCY Times:
200 Freestyle: 1:52.73 500 Freestyle: 4:57.55 200 IM: 2:04.77 400 IM: 4:23.90 200 Backstroke: 2:02.25A Division I Mid-Major program, Boston University competes in the Patriot League, with the women’s team placing fourth out of 10 teams at the 2026 conference meet. Elko’s current career best in the 400 IM would have placed sixth, while her times in the 200 back and 200 free would have qualified for the ‘B’ finals, and her PB in the 200 IM advanced to the ‘C’ final, positioning her as an immediate contributor even with two full seasons of training still to go before she lines up at her first conference meet.
Elko joins breaststroker Ella Peterson as the only publicized commits in the Terriers’ class of 2031 so far.
