We’re finally getting our first glimpse at the new-look Chicago Bears practice squad.
I’m sure there will be changes throughout the season. But we will cross that bridge when we get to it. In the meantime, this is the initial practice squad release:

Buddy Johnson (given name Devodrick) is one of the newer members of Chicago’s practice squad. Johnson spent the summer with the Las Vegas Raiders, but suffered a shoulder injury during a preseason game against the Houston Texans and was released without an injury designation. This made him free to sign with any NFL team, and that team is the Bears. For what it’s worth, this is Johnson’s second stint with the team. Johnson signed as a free agent in July 2023, but was waived/injured in August 2023 and reverted to injured reserve. Offensive tackle Christian Jones is another new face on the Bears’ practice squad. A fifth-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2024, Jones was waived as part of the final round of roster cuts over the weekend. With Kiran Amegadjie off to the Philadelphia Eagles, Jones steps in as the developmental project offensive lineman spot. I hope it works out better for him than it did Amegadjie. Players with new numbers: Wide receiver Scotty Miller (82), wide receiver Kaden Davis (80), saety Xavier Woods (32), cornerback Clark Phillips III (20).
