Tottenham Predictions: Opta Supercomputer Projections for Premier League 2026-27 ...Middle East

News by : (The Analyst) -

How will Tottenham fare in the Premier League in 2026-27? We fired up the Opta supercomputer to find out what it predicts for the coming campaign.

For a team who have just finished 17th for a second time in a row, there is a strange sense of optimism around what Tottenham can achieve this season.

Whether or not that is simply an expectation (or hope?) that they will avoid another relegation battle isn’t entirely clear, but Roberto De Zerbi’s work in escaping the drop at the end of last season has convinced many of the club’s fans that he can work more magic in the upcoming campaign.

They have also gone big in the transfer market, spending vast sums on proven Premier League players with the aim of sparking a big and immediate improvement. De Zerbi doesn’t have the time or patience for a slow, painful rebuild.

So, will Spurs improve on 17th place, and if so, how far up the table can they make it?

Predicting how this season will go around here is a job reserved only for the Opta supercomputer. Here is what it foresees for Tottenham in 2026-27.

The Opta Supercomputer’s Pre-Season Predictions

Most Likely Finish: 7thLikelihood of Winning the Premier League: 2.5%Likelihood of a Top-Four Finish: 17.6%

Two disastrous seasons have naturally led to a degree of caution from the Opta supercomputer when it comes to Tottenham’s hopes for the season. While some fans are getting carried away about their lavish summer of spending, the supercomputer is remaining typically level-headed.

But the spread of its predictions could leave the supercomputer open to accusations of sitting on the fence. Spurs are given a chance between 5.5% and 6.3% of finishing in each position between fourth and 14th. Their most likely finish is seventh – but only just.

The truth is, though, the spread simply represents the level of uncertainty over the coming season for Tottenham. They could be in for another relegation battle, but they could finish in the top four.

With no European football to distract them, there is hope that the latter is on the cards. The Opta supercomputer gives Spurs a 17.6% chance of finishing in the top four. An unlikely title win is rated at just a 2.5% possibility, making them the eighth-most likely title winners.

Their hopes of returning to the Champions League could be boosted if English teams again do well enough in Europe to hand the Premier League a fifth UCL spot for a third consecutive season. If that happens, Spurs are given a 23.7% chance of qualification.

A relegation battle is far less likely, according to the supercomputer, which rates the chances of them going down at just 9.1%. However, quite rightly, no Tottenham fan will be taking anything for granted.
