It is almost time for the final session of the 2026 Jr. Pan Pacific Championships.
There are eight individual events and two relays tonight including the longest and shortest events in swimming.
The session will open with the 200 IM finals where American Audrey Derivaux and Japan’s Haru Hirayama are the respective girls’ and boys’ top seeds after the prelims. The boys’ race was much closer than the girls’ with American Yi Zheng and Japan’s 2nd swimmer Raito Numata qualifying in 2:01.53 and 2:01.55 to sit just behind Hirayama’s 2:01.51.
In the 50 freestyle, a pair of Australians Maya Zunker and Christopher Montana are the respective top seeds, but most of the ‘A’ final is very close together for both events.
The girls’ and boys’ 200 breaststroke events will be led by Australia’s Amelie Smith on the girls’ side and American Wilson York on the boys.
The final individual events of the meet will be the girls’ 800 free and the boys’ 1500 free. Japan’s Haruno Tanimoto is the top seed in the girls’ 800 free and American Luka Mijatovic, who has been having a very strong meet so far, is the top seed in the 1500 free by more than 10 seconds.
The meet will wrap up with the 400 medley relays and the United States is the top seed for the girls while Japan is the top seed for the boys.
