Barrio Logan Verano Art Festival: More than 50 artisans, vendors, restaurants and installations will be on hand for this free event at Por Vida Cafe (2146 Logan Ave.) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Besides the art show, visitors can enjoy a live musical performance by Karlos Paez, founder of the local funk legends the B-Side Players.
Chicano Block Party: A bit further north, the California Center for the Arts in Escondido (340 N. Escondido Blvd.) will once again host this free event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. honoring Chicano Heritage Month. The party is being held in conjunction with José Hugo Sánchez’s art exhibition “Amoxtlis.” Sánchez will be creating a new mural during the event, which will also feature artist demonstrations, live musical performances and a lowrider car show.
Culture & Colors at Balboa Park:This art showcase at the Balboa Park Club (2150 Pan American Road W.) will unfold in two stages: a free public viewing from 12-4 p.m. followed by an artist reception for visitors ages 21 and up from 6-8 p.m. where you can buy art directly from the artists. Tickets for the Saturday evening session cost $20, plus fees.
Dorothy’s Depot: The maker’s market, presented by the Queer Liberation Network and Libélula Books & Co., returns to The Woo! (2212 Main St.) with more than 85 vendors on site from 12-5 p.m. promising “flash tats, food, coffee, music, community, and a vibe you don’t want to miss.” Admission is free.
Flapjacks for Backpacks: The Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos (1 Positive Place) will once again host this fundraiser and community event that lets schoolchildren in need get some supplies (while they last) as well as free haircuts and activities from 7-11 a.m. Tickets cost $12 apiece, or $40 for a family four-pack.
San Diego Brew Festival: Now in its 15th year, this celebration of sudsiness returns to NTC Park at Liberty Station (2455 Cushing Rd.) bringing more than 70 brewers as well as 10 food trucks plus live music for you to enjoy your day out. For $50, you can buy a general admission ticket that gets you in from 1-4 p.m. The $65 early admission ticket gets you in an hour earlier and also allows you to taste some specialty beers as a perk.

Kollins of “Ru Paul’s Drag Race” fame.
