The Chicago Office of Police Accountability was responding early Tuesday morning to a shooting involving a police officer in the city’s North Lawndale neighborhood.
COPA, which responds anytime a Chicago police officer fires their weapon, posted about the incident at 5:19 a.m., saying investigators were responding to a shooting involving a police officer near 18th and Drake.
Video from the scene showed police blocking off part of an alleyway with crime scene tape and several cop cars.
Anyone with information related to the incident was asked to contact COPA at 312-746-3609.
The Chicago Police Department did not immediately respond to NBC Chicago’s request for comment.
