The English metal band took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce that they are officially breaking up. Shields originally disbanded in 2018 after the sudden death of their guitarist, George Christie, before reuniting again in 2023. After releasing a new album and touring as a band for three years, Shields shared that they will be playing their final show on Aug 14 at Sanctum Festival in England.
They also gave a shoutout to Alastair Wain and Krishan Pujara, who joined the band in 2023.

"Upon the early days of creating this album, we were aware it was going to involve us revisiting the individual traumas that we’d been harboring, but we didn’t really anticipate the depths in which it had anchored itself to our lives. Processing pain in real time meant we had to display total vulnerability with each other," Edwards continued. "Thankfully, we have been friends for 21 years and have the stability in our friendship to comfortably and safely let this happen."
