Joe Eszterhas revealed the news while giving an update on the script during a chat with Interview Magazine, during which he also called the 2006 sequel – with which he was not involved with – "really bad".
Of his upcoming reboot, Eszterhas said that he told the studio he'd only agree to take on the project on one condition.
"I told MGM/UA that if I did this, I’d want it to be fun and enjoyable," he said. "I just finished the script and we’ll see."
Meanwhile, he seems to think that the film – just like the original all those years ago – will cause its fair share of discussion when it's eventually released.
Later, he added: "My new script has quite a few moments where the audience will be really startled and ask themselves, 'Holy s**t, did I hear that right?'"
