RIYADH — More than 10,700 violators were apprehended across the Kingdom within a week, according to the Ministry of Interior (MOI). Between June 4 and June 10, the Joint Field Campaign to Monitor and Apprehend Violators of Residency, Labor, and Border Security Regulations arrested 10,725 violators. Of these, 5,899 were residency law violators, 3,084 were border security law violators, and 1,742 were labor law violators. Meanwhile, 1,418 individuals were apprehended while attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally. Of those, 55 percent were Ethiopian nationals, 43 percent were Yemeni nationals, and 2 percent were of other nationalities. A further 34 individuals were apprehended while attempting to leave the Kingdom illegally, while 18 people were arrested for transporting, sheltering, employing, or concealing violators. Currently, 22,026 violators are undergoing legal procedures, including 20,459 men and 1,567 women.As part of enforcement measures, 14,268 violators were referred to obtain travel documents, 12,240 were referred to complete travel reservations, and 7,989 were deported. The MOI warned that anyone who facilitates the illegal entry of border security violators into the Kingdom, transports them within the country, provides them with shelter or assistance, or offers them any form of service may face up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SR1 million.
