The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts severe hot weather to continue across the country on Thursday, with Cairo reaching 36C and temperatures soaring to 43C in the south during the day.
The weather will be mild in the early morning, becoming very hot during the day in most areas, and hot along the northern coast.
Temperatures will range from mild to slightly hot at night.
There will be a chance of light rain in parts of the northwestern coastal governorates and the Western Desert, with the possibility of moderate, thundery showers at times in some areas of the New Valley Governorate.
Winds will occasionally pick up, reaching speeds of 30-35 km/h across most areas, and may stir up sand and dust in parts of the Red Sea Governorate at intervals.
There is also a slight chance of some low clouds forming over scattered areas of southern Lower Egypt, Greater Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, and northern Upper Egypt, which may produce light, insignificant drizzle in some areas.
The EMA advised citizens to avoid direct sun exposure, especially during midday.
It also recommended wearing a hat when going outdoors to protect against the sun’s rays and avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent heat exhaustion.
The department stressed the importance of taking all necessary precautions and measures to mitigate the effects of the heatwave.
