Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly tried to lure a 15-year-old high school student into his vehicle in suburban Park Ridge.
According to police, the Maine South High School student was walking home in the area of Talcott Road and Cortland Avenue on Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. when a man driving a dark-colored Mazda sedan approached her.
Police say the suspect told the teen she “looked familiar,” and then tried to encourage her to get into the vehicle. When she told the suspect she was 15 he drove away, according to authorities.
Residents are being advised to stay alert in the area and to be aware of their surroundings.
Students are urged not to approach or enter vehicles with individuals they don’t know, and to report suspicious activity immediately.
